Introduction
The Vastseliina Community House character dance group Gruuvikeerajad consists of eight dancers. It is a place where every movement tells its own story. The members of the group love dance because it provides peace of mind, expresses emotions, and transports them to another world. Most of the group's dances are self-choreographed, incorporating the ideas and inspiration of all its members. At the same time, they are not afraid to explore the dances of other cultures to broaden their horizons and bring even more color to their performances.
In character dance, age, appearance, or previous experience do not matter—what is important is the desire and passion to dance. Costumes are often used to help embody different characters and take the audience wherever the dancers' steps lead them. The group strives to be an inspiration to everyone, showing that dance is for everyone—every person has their own story that deserves to be shared through movement. Anyone who joins the character dance group finds their place and becomes part of creating a wonderful world.
The group is instructed by Marit Sillaste.
Their motto is: “Dance is a language that everyone understands, and it unites us more than any word.”
